Over the next two weeks, the Lee’s Summit West High School Theater Department will present two full-length plays.

“Almost, Maine” features 20 short vignettes of couples searching for love and will run Nov. 6 and 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Lee’s Summit West Performing Arts Center, 2600 S.W. Ward Road.

On Nov. 7 and 13 at 7:30 p.m., the Mark Twain play “Is He Dead?” will be performed. The play follows a group of artists who want to help inflate the prices of a friend’s work by faking his death.

Tickets for each show are $7 for adults and $6 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at westsidestage.com.

The following students will act in “Almost, Maine”: Tyler Caby, Jacob Bogart, Bryson Bruce, Briana VanDeusen, Ashley Meinhardt, Chloe Gibbs, Charlotte Parise and Erin Huffman. Acting in “Is He Dead?” are Rob Glauz, Elizabeth Kouba, Kyle Stolfus, Jenna Klausing, Nathaniel Franklin, Amira Aldewick, Justin Haddock, Paige Matheny, Mark Grimes, Alec Mulumulu and Chris Wunder.

The Raymore-Peculiar High School’s Academy Theatre will be turned into a fairy tale land this week with the school’s production of “Into the Woods.”

Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at the school, 20801 S. School Road in Peculiar.

The musical, written by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine, follows Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack, Rapunzel, the Baker and his wife traveling through the woods on their way to finding “happily ever after.”

Tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for children and can be purchased on the school’s new reservation line at 816-892-3999.

Cast members are Megan Billman, Todd Bowles, Bracie Bradford, Connor Branson, Kelli Bullard, Haley Crane, Tim Evans, Hayley Farrell, Ellie Fowler, Abigayl Hockett, Bridget Hoffman, Maggie Hulsey, Ben Jones, Sabrina Justesen, Sara Lancaster, Mandy Lange, Elyssa LeMay, Taylor Lininger, Brooks MacKender, Nellie Maple, Kelcey Martin, Alex Miller, Nick Pasternak, Nic Ruby, Dane Schnake, Megan Segars, Krissy Sellmeyer, Megan Settle, Alden Stockam, Aidan Swanson, Nicollette Thompson, Sarah Unruh, Josh Wagner, Heazy Ward, Nathaniel Weber, Jayson Wellman, Michaela Wiehe, Austin Williams, Madelon Wink and Rebekah Youmans.

During Center Middle School and Center High School’s first Special Olympics bowling event of the year, students received medals and ribbons for their efforts.

These middle school students were honored: Codey Adkins, first place; Cory Birmingham, first place; Aneisha Gilyard, second place; Khalil Morgan, third place; Nicholas Gregg, second place; Mylisha Patterson, first place; Kevin Tillman, second place; and Jaray Wynn, fourth place.

High school students who received awards: Joe Brantley, second place; Krista Bynum, first place; Dathern Cox, first place; Lavell Doolin, first place; Cortez Flag, first place; Mario Gordon, second place; Peter Hogan, third place; Daisy Moore, fifth place; Leeandrew Nevels, first place; Herman Ogbazion, fourth place; and Hannah Westfall, second place.
