Tax notices should be showing up in mailboxes early this month.
According to a news release from the Cass County Commission, a total of 91,184 tax statements are being mailed, reflecting a total of $87,907,302.62 that the county is required to collect.
Taxpayers that have not received a statement by Nov. 10 should call 816-380-8377.
To avoid penalties, taxes must be paid by Dec. 31. Failure to receive a statement does not relieve the obligation to pay taxes and applicable late charges.
Marine Col. Patrick J. McCarthy will speak at the city’s Veterans Day Tribute, which begins at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Presidential Hall at the Truman Memorial Building, 416 W. Maple Ave.
McCarthy is the commander of the Marine Corps Mobilization Command in Kansas City, which is providing a Color Guard for the event. Mayor Pro-Tem Jim Page and Deputy City Manager John Pinch also will speak.
The tribute will include a visit to the Veterans’ Hall and the Veterans’ Video Project in the lower level of the building. For more information, call 816-325-7843.
City Council members Jim Hallam and Kathy Hofmann will hold an open forum for their District 1 constituents from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at City Hall, 220 S.E. Green St.
The district lies generally south of U.S. 50 and east of Ward Road, except in the far southern part of city south of Missouri 150, the western boundary is Missouri 291.
