Parkway Place, a development proposed on Adams Dairy Parkway, is moving forward. The City Council on Monday approved its concept plan on a vote of 4-2, agreeing with the endorsement of the Planning Commission. A couple of council members disagreed with plans for a “curb cut” for an entrance off Adams Dairy Parkway between R.D. Mize Road and Napoleon Drive, where the nearly 15-acre development would be built on the west side.

In 1969 my hometown of 18,000 had a dozen grocery stores, seven liquor stores and one big box store — Gibson’s Discount. More retail and office development could be on its way to Adams Dairy Parkway in Blue Springs. The Planning Commission on Monday voted 6-4 to recommend approval of a 15-acre development, Parkway Place Center, that would sit at the southwest corner of Adams Dairy Parkway and R.D. Mize Road. The project, by developer Bill Wrisinger and partners, would bring about 46,000 square feet of retail space below 44,000 square feet of office space. There also would be 8,200 square feet of free-standing office/retail...
