SALEM, Ore. – An Oregon woman has been sentenced to nearly six years in prison for dousing her husband with gasoline and setting him on fire during an argument over weed killer.
In court documents, the 46-year-old Willamette Valley woman described it as an attempt to get her husband’s attention as they fought over spraying the substance. She feared weed killer would sicken her dogs.
The woman’s lawyer said Tuesday that alcohol was involved in the dispute, and a psychiatrist diagnosed Toddi Bork of Mount Angel as depressed with a borderline personality disorder.
The Salem Statesman Journal reports Bork was charged with attempted murder but pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of assault.
