A seminar next week focusing on the reality of violence and drugs will examine the problem from both an urban and suburban perspective.
The seminar, which is open to the public, takes place next Tuesday night at the Village Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Road, Prairie Village.
Among those participating are Alvin Brooks, former Kansas City Council member and longtime anti-crime community leader, and Charles Jackard, former alternative high school principal in the Shawnee Mission School District.
Students from area urban and suburban neighborhoods also will participate.
The seminar begins at 5 p.m. with area service providers available to answer questions and distribute information. The main program runs from 7 to 9 p.m.
The seminar is free, but registration is requested. Registration information is available online at www.VillageU.com. Look for the current events icon in the Spring Class Schedule. You can also call 913-671-2333.
