KANSAS CITY | Rapist sentenced
Timothy T. McClendon, 32, of Kansas City, has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to the 1998 sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl. DNA testing linked him to the assault. He pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree statutory rape.
The victim told police that she was using a convenience store pay phone before she got in a car with two men and was taken to Blue Valley Park in east Kansas City and assaulted.
KANSAS CITY | Man robs bank with note
A man robbed a downtown bank about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday using a note and a napkin.
He had been milling around the Bank Midwest lobby, 1111 Main St., when a teller asked whether he had business to conduct. He removed a napkin from his pocket, unfolded it, withdrew a note demanding money and handed it to the teller. The teller gave him cash in a bank envelope.

KANSAS CITY | DJ peads guilty to weapons charge
A man charged in a shooting outside a Kansas City tavern last year pleaded guilty Tuesday to being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Federal prosecutors filed the weapons charge against Kenneth L. Frazier after police investigating the shooting recovered two shotguns from his house. He could not possess a firearm legally because of drug and weapons convictions.
Frazier, 40, allegedly shot a man outside Gerry’s Silver Slipper in the 4700 block of Independence Avenue on Feb. 8, 2008, while working as a disc jockey. He allegedly intervened when a customer argued with a female employee.
Assault and armed criminal action charges are pending, according to Jackson County Circuit Court records.
BLUE SPRINGS | Associate principal dies
Students, teachers and staff members at Blue Springs High School are mourning the death of Associate Principal Slade Morlang, 41, a 1986 graduate of the school. He died last weekend, said Leslie Evans, a district spokeswoman.
“Blue Springs High School has suffered a great loss,” Principal Dave Adams said in a statement. Morlang, Adams said, “was a Wildcat in every sense of the term. He was a tireless worker, with high energy and a positive outlook on life. He worked each day to make our school better and was the ultimate role model for those of us who were fortunate enough to be touched by his presence.”
Details about Morlang’s death were not available.
JOHNSON COUNTY | H1N1 vaccine clinic offered
The Johnson County Health Department will offer an H1N1 flu shot clinic Saturday for Johnson County residents.
The clinic is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Northeast Offices complex at 6000 Lamar in Mission. Vaccines will be administered on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors will open at 8:45 a.m.
The clinic is targeting pregnant women, children 6 months to 4 years of age, caregivers of infants younger than 6 months and health care workers with direct patient contact.
Healthy individuals ages 2 through 49 will receive nasal spray vaccine. Pregnant women and children 6 months to 2 years of age are not eligible for the nasal spray vaccine and will receive an injectable dose.
The Health Department encourages people to print out consent forms from www.jocoflu.org and bring the completed forms to the clinic.
OVERLAND PARK | Hit-and-run driver ID’d
Overland Park police on Tuesday said a 17-year-old from Leawood was the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run accident Monday that injured two people, one critically. The vehicle was located in Overland Park. No charges have been filed.
