Four honored at KC NAACP branch’s centennial

Four people were honored Saturday at the centennial celebration of the Kansas City branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

The Centennial Freedom Fund Luncheon had a theme of “NAACP 100 Years: Bold Dreams-Big Victories.”

The 2009 NAACP award recipients were Bert Berkley, with the Harold L. Holliday Sr. Civil Rights Award; Stacey Daniels-Young, with the Lucile H. Bluford Special Achievement Award; Sonny Gibson, with the Carl R. Johnson Humanitarian Award; and Barbara Tate, with the Velma E. Woodson Outstanding Leadership Award.
