Kansas Sen. Pat Roberts was a Marco Rubio backer for the GOP presidential nomination.
But on Monday morning in a no-nonsense speech to the Kansas delegation, Roberts urged delegates to pull behind Donald Trump.
“We can’t solve our problems unless we have unity in our party,” the four-term senator said.
Roberts acknowledged that “there is some dissatisfaction with our candidate. That’s just the way it is.”
But he said there are two words that should convince all Kansas Republicans to get behind Trump: Hillary Clinton.
“She sidesteps the truth every day, and she’ll do it again,” Roberts said. “We can nominate a very strong candidate and make sure Hillary Clinton is not president.”
