Jay Nixon: 2016 presidential field needs a 'voice in the Heartland'

Now this will get Missouri politicos talking.
Gov. Jay Nixon on Saturday insisted that he’s a big Hillary Clinton backer for 2016.
But he also suggested the Democratic field needs a “voice in the Heartland.”
“We feed, fuel and clothe the world. We’re the center of the rebirth of the auto industry,” the Democrat told POLITICO at a meeting of the National Governors Association. “That heartland voice of people that get up early, work hard, have solid values needs to be heard in Washington, D.C.”
Asked whether he could be that voice, Nixon performed a quick Missouri two-step.
In other words, he dodged.
“I’m thinking about getting to lunch,” he said.
The two-term governor is doing a masterful job at keeping his name out there just in case Clinton shocks the world by not running. This is a slick way to do it.
If Clinton does launch, Nixon no doubt wants to be part of the conversation for cabinet posts or other top administration positions.
