Three-term Johnson County Sheriff Frank Denning will not seek re-election this year and will retire in early 2017, his office confirmed Tuesday.
First elected in 2004, Denning was re-elected in 2008 and 2012.
“It’s just the right time for his family,” Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Claire Young told The Buzz.
