Since she announced her candidacy for Missouri governor in February, Republican Catherine Hanaway has stashed more than $300,000 in contributions in her campaign account.
Hanaway, the first woman House speaker in Missouri history, announced the total Thursday in a bid to show some flash in what could be a three-way battle for the GOP nomination.
Also said to be interested in the race is state auditor Tom Schweich and 2012 Senate contender John Brunner.
Brunner hasn’t formally declared, so he won’t file a campaign report. Schweich is seeking re-election to his current post, so his number will reflect fundraising for auditor as well as a potential gubernatorial bid.
Hanaway pointed out her donations came from a number of sitting lawmakers, including Senate President Pro Tem Tom Dempsey, Senate Majority Leader Ron Richard and state Sen. Will Kraus of Lee’s Summit.
