Shocker: Tim Huelskamp is most liberal member of House from Kansas

That’s one conclusion in a new study by the National Journal. The media organization also finds Kansas has more conservative delegation in the nation.

Confirmed: Kansas had the most conservative House delegation in America in 2013.

That’s what the

National Journal said Thursday, at least. In May 2012, The Star — quoting the Journal’s rankings — reached the same conclusion

Oddly, none of the state’s four House members is considered among the top 15 most conservative representatives. Only Rep.

Ann Wagner

of Missouri makes that list.

Missouri’s delegation, with only two Democrats, is the 10th most conservative, the Journal found.

But perhaps we should take the findings with a bit of caution.

The Journal finds Rep.

Tim Huelskamp of Kansas the 164th most conservative member of the House. It found him less conservative than Wagner, Reps. Billy Long, Blaine Luetkemeyer, Jason Smith, Vicky Hartzler, and Sam Graves, all of Missouri; and Reps. Mike Pompeo, Lynn Jenkins, and Kevin Yoder

of Kansas.

It will be interesting to fully understand why Huelskamp is considered the most

liberal member of the Kansas House delegation.
