Missouri group opposes half-cent research tax to draw the line “somewhere”

Among its reasons: sales taxes are too high.
“The city has some of the highest local sales taxes in the United States,” the piece says. “The line needs to be drawn somewhere, and this is a good place to start.”
Of course, the Institute was among the groups pushing for the vetoed Missouri tax cuts, inpart because of the need to compete with Kansas
Kansas did reduce its income taxes. But it replaced at least some of that revenue by — you guessed it —maintaining part of an expiring sales tax.
