Skelton in town to talk about new memoir

Long-time congressman’s book takes glimpses at Nixon, Truman and Clinton

Former Missouri Congressman Ike Skelton will talk about his new memoir, Achieve the Honorable,

Tuesday night at the downtown library.

Skelton, a 34-year member of the House and one-time chair of the Armed Services Committee, will talk about his reforms of the Defense Department and how he overcame polio as a child to make his way to Capitol Hill.

The book also offers looks at Richard Nixon, Harry Truman and Bill Clinton.

His talk begins at 6:30 Tuesday night at the library, 14 W. 10th St. A 6 p.m. reception precedes the event.
