The Star’s Mike Hendricks is reporting that Kansas City Power and Light Co. has donated $25,000 to the campaign committee that's promoting a half-cent sales for medical research.

That issue is on the fall ballot in Jackson County.

That and two other contributions received on Friday brings to $675,000 the amount that the Committee for Research Treatment and Cures has raised so far.

The committee has said it will spend in excess of $1 million on the campaign.
