Rules requiring airline travelers to turn off their portable electronic devices during takeoffs and landings may finally be on the verge of a big change.
An industry working group assigned by theFederal Aviation Administration
to research the issue is expected to recommend a relaxing of those regs.
All of that was music to Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill’s ears. She’s been pushing for months for new policies.
“It’s good to see the FAA may be on the verge of acknowledging what the traveling public has suspected for years—that current rules are arbitrary and lack real justification,” she said in a statement Friday.
“In the meantime, I’ll continue my effort to have these regulations rigorously examined until scientific evidence has been presented to justify them, or the rules are altered.”
