A new Gallup survey

shows that a majority of Americans is backing each of six policy changes that Congress is considering as part of a comprehensive immigration measure.

Among those changes: a pathway to citizenship that includes a long waiting period and a law that would vary the number of immigrants the U.S. lets into the country.

The Senate is debating the issue now and plans a vote around the Fourth of July holiday.
