Kansas Sen. Pat Roberts says he wants a “full accounting” from the IRS about its targeting of conservative groups.
The three-term Republican is seeking hearings before the Senate Finance Committee. Roberts serves on the panel.
“This misconduct was almost certainly agenda-driven politics and bias gone unchecked, despite the IRS’s best attempts to claim otherwise,” Roberts said in a statement.
“A mere apology will not be sufficient to ensure Kansans, and all Americans, will not be singled out and harassed by an agency of the federal government for their political beliefs.”
