WANTED: New commissioner for the Unified Government of Wyandotte County.
PAY: $1,200 a month. Retirement and health care benefits optional.
HOURS: Screwy. Technically part time. Lots of meetings. Lots of phone calls to your house at all hours of day and night.
The Unified Government on Tuesday announced the process it will use to fill the District One at-large seat once held by Mark Holland, who was elected mayor last month.
Those interested must file an application with the City Clerk by 5 p.m. May 17. Needed: A one-page resume, description of previous election experience and authorization to conduct a criminal background check.
The commission will meet at 4 p.m. May 30 to hear five-minute presentations from the applicants. Commissioners then have 10 minutes to question each applicant.
Commissioners will vote that night to determine two finalists. They’ll conduct a second round of interviews with the two either that night or at a later date. The commission will then cast a final vote to pick their new member.
