Democrat Kelly Kultala’s uphill campaign for Congress against Republican Kevin Yoder just got a nudge from an important group.

Emily’s List, which backs pro-choice Democratic women, endorsed Kultala on Thursday, and that means that the group’s 3 million members will be asked to support her with campaign donations.

“Kelly is ready to make history as the first Democratic woman to represent the Third District,” said Stephanie Schriock, president of Emily’s List.

Said Kultala, a former state senator from KCK:

“We need more women in Congress so that girls, like my two granddaughters, grow up knowing that their futures are not limited. It is also time to provide wholesale changes in Washington, DC. If we are going to change the game in Washington, and we must, we have to change the players.”
