A 27-year-old Kansas City woman faces criminal child endangerment charges for allegedly bringing a 3-year-old child with her to an armed drug deal.
Crystal Peters was arrested Wednesday along with a 25-year-old man, later identified as Chavierre R. Walker, who allegedly sold cocaine-based drugs to an undercover detective. Walker was allegedly armed with a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun when he sold the drugs to an undercover detective.
According to court records:
During the drug sale, the undercover detective saw Walker inside a vehicle holding a silver handgun. The weapon was pointed in the direction of the undercover officer.
The detective also noticed a 3-year-old child in the back seat, and Peters was in the front seat of the vehicle.
Afterward, Peters and Walker drove to a convenience store at 37th and Main streets, where they were arrested.
Investigators recovered a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun with several live rounds, including one live round loaded in the chamber. They also found a clear plastic bag with 2.2 grams of purported cocaine, cash, a digital scale and a lunch box in the back seat that contained a 9 mm bullet, according to records.
Walker was later charged in U.S. District Court with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
