An hours-long manhunt by law enforcement officers in Platte County ended with two men under arrest, at least one of whom was wanted for questioning in a Kansas homicide.
Platte County Sheriff Mark Owen said officers were called to the 6800 block of Northwest Vista just after 11 a.m. Wednesday to check on a suspicious vehicle and occupant. The vehicle sped through several residential yards.
Authorities traced the license plate number to a vehicle that had been reported stolen in Topeka and might be related to a July 30 homicide there.
The vehicle wrecked at 66th Street and Prairie View Road but continued. The occupants jumped out of the vehicle and ran into a wooded area near Missouri 9 and Northwest Coffey Road, near a rock quarry.
Police announced Wednesday afternoon that both men were in custody.
