A Kansas City woman and her grandchildren scrambled for safety early Wednesday when a volley of gunfire erupted outside of their home in the 5300 block of Brooklyn Avenue.
No one was hurt in the shooting reported around 1:45 a.m. The woman told police that she and her three grandchildren were asleep when she heard multiple gunshots outside her home. The woman said she dove to the floor for safety after hearing glass breaking and several rounds of gunfire enter her home.
Police did not have a description of who fired the shots. Multiple shell casings from three different firearms were recovered near the house.
