A Lenexa man was ordered Monday to stand trial in the killings last summer of two men.
Alex Brune was bound over for trial on two counts of first-degree murder after a preliminary hearing in Johnson County District Court.
Brune, 27, is charged in the killings last July of 47-year-old Brian Baskind and his 79-year-old stepfather, Clifford Preston.
The men were stabbed to death inside the home they shared in the 8500 block of Hallet Street in Lenexa.
Brune was found by police at the scene with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He later told police that he had been kidnapped from his home and taken to the home on Hallet and was shot after stabbing both men while trying to escape.
Prosecutors allege that the killings occurred during a burglary and attempted robbery. Brune is also charged with aggravated burglary and two counts of attempted aggravated robbery.
After Monday’s preliminary hearing, his attorney entered not guilty pleas on his behalf. Brune’s next court hearing is scheduled for March 23.
