Lawrence police on Wednesday identified a man sought in connection with a traffic stop Tuesday in which a police officer was dragged and injured by a fleeing vehicle.
Detectives have an arrest warrant with a charge of aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer for Aramis N. Hernandez, 36. Police believe Hernandez was the driver of a white Ford Fusion stopped by a police officer in Lawrence shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday.
The Ford, which had Missouri license plates, fled the traffic stop, dragging the officer and injuring him. The officer was taken to a hospital.
On Wednesday, police said they had found the Ford and now sought Hernandez, who is described as 6 feet tall and 180 pounds.
