Clay County authorities have accused a 17-year-old Kansas City male, DeAndre D. Hooker, of assault, punching a paramedic, spitting on a sheriff’s deputy and resisting arrest after a fight that broke out on the Fourth of July at Worlds of Fun.
According to court records, about 9:30 p.m., park security guards were called to break up a fight between two females. About 100 people had gathered when the guards arrived.
Several park guests, including some pushing strollers and others with children, tried to force their way from the large crowd.
Hooker and his younger brother became uncooperative when they were asked to leave the park. Security guards tried to escort Hooker out, but he refused to leave and fought with a guard trying to handcuff him.
During the altercation, Hooker broke loose and punched a paramedic five times in the head.
Clay County sheriff’s deputies arrived to help with the arrest. Hooker spat on one of the deputies after they handcuffed him. He also tried to kick the deputy who tried to search his pockets.
