A 58-year-old man who federal authorities believe held up the Platte Valley Bank in Dearborn and three more banks in Oklahoma in June was arrested early Thursday.
Jesse Bud Leaverton, 58, of Talala, Okla., was taken into custody without incident by several law enforcement agencies, including the FBI and the Missouri Highway Patrol, near the intersection of U.S. 60 and South Farm Road 119 between Republic, Mo., and Springfield.
A federal arrest warrant was issued for Leaverton on June 21 after he allegedly held up a bank in Tulsa. Federal authorities said Leaverton was a serial bank robber and a person of interest in four bank holdups.
At each of those holdups, the robber produced a note and told tellers he had a weapon. He fled on foot.
