Jackson County prosecutors have accused a 23-year-old man of causing a March 6 wreck that killed another motorist.
Ramone D. Akins of Kansas City is charged with first-degree involuntary manslaughter in the death of Dwayne Horn Jr., 30.
According to court records, the crash happened at 56th Street and Prospect Avenue. Akins’ vehicle was headed south on Prospect and hit Horn’s vehicle. Horn had pulled away from a stop sign and turned north onto Prospect.
Investigators said Akins was traveling at least 83 mph at the time of the collision. His vehicle struck the driver’s side door of Horn’s vehicle. Akins got out of his vehicle and fell down. He told others to check on Horn.
