An Olathe man who caused a 2015 crash that killed a Kansas police officer was sentenced Tuesday to 18 years and eight months in prison.
Dana G. Patton, 25, previously pleaded guilty in Johnson County District Court to a charge of reckless second-degree murder in the October 2015 death of David M. Stubbs.
Stubbs, 58, a part-time police officer in Louisburg, Kan., was killed at the intersection of 123rd Street and Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park.
Patton was driving a stolen car and ran a red light at the intersection.
At the time of the wreck, Patton was free on bond in several other auto theft cases.
The sentence imposed Tuesday was for the charges related to Stubbs’ death and also for crimes in four other pending cases, according to prosecutors.
