Prosecutors have dismissed a ticket issued to a Kansas City Star photographer who was arrested and cited for walking in the street during a November protest march.
Police held Jill Toyoshiba for about an hour and a half on Nov. 25 after she covered a march through the Country Club Plaza to Westport.
The march was one of several in Kansas City and around the country to protest a grand jury’s decision in St. Louis County not to indict a white Ferguson police officer in the shooting death of an unarmed black teenager.
Kansas City officers were trying to keep about 100 protesters out of the street that evening. After taking photographs of the marchers, Toyoshiba stepped into the street to let them pass and was arrested.
