A Leavenworth County woman was sentenced Thursday to nine years and four months in prison for killing a motorcycle rider in a 2014 crash.
Jaime Michelle Carter, 37, of Linwood, was sentenced in Leavenworth County District Court, where she previously pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the death of Mary Steuber.
Steuber, 49, of Gardner, was a passenger on a motorcycle operated by her husband when they were struck by a car driven by Carter on Kansas 32 in Leavenworth County.
Carter had drugs in her system at the time of the wreck, according to Leavenworth County prosecutors.
