Kansas City police are investigating a number of midtown armed robberies in which several people were pistol-whipped late Wednesday.
At least one person was arrested after a victim fought with and disarmed a man who tried to rob him, police said.
Just after 9 p.m. Wednesday, police received several calls about robberies occurring in an area between 41st and 43rd street and Main and Oak streets.
Officers saw a man bleeding from his head in the 4100 block of Warwick Boulevard. He told officers that he had been walking in the 4100 block of Walnut Street when a man armed with a handgun got out of a car occupied by two others and demanded money.
After the assailant pistol-whipped him, the man said he was able to take the gun away and run to the area where police saw him.
Other officers saw a car matching the description of the one involved in the robbery and arrested a man they saw walking away from it.
