Kansas City, Kan., police on Tuesday asked the public for more help to solve the killings of two young men last month.
Lifelong friends Naythan T. Walton and Lydell Irvin Jr. were found shot to death the morning of June 19 on the grounds of Memorial Park Cemetery in the 1200 block of Esplanade Street.
At a news conference Tuesday morning attended by Irvin’s parents, police said they had identified “persons of interest” in the double homicide, but they still needed additional tips.
“We’re certain more people have information,” said Capt. Steve Haulmark. “We’ve made a lot of progress, but we have a lot more to do.”
Walton, 22, and Irvin, 25, were killed where their bodies were found, police said Tuesday. They also revealed that a car Irvin was using had been seen driving around after the killings. The car, a 2012 black Toyota Corolla, later was found abandoned and burned at another location in Kansas City, Kan.
Irvin’s mother asked that anyone with information call the TIPS Hotline.
“Please don’t let this go unsolved,” Naomi Irvin pleaded. “Please, please call and tell what you saw.”
Haulmark reminded people that calls can remain anonymous and callers can be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. The TIPS number is 816-474-8477.
