A 33-year-old man who helped move large amounts of California-grown marijuana to be sold in the Kansas City area pleaded guilty Thursday in federal court in Kansas City, Kan.
Richard Dertinger of West Sacramento, Calif., admitted that he conspired to grow and distribute more than 200 pounds of marijuana over about three years.
He also pleaded guilty to charges of money laundering.
Prosecutors said Dertinger and others laundered about $470,000 by using slot machines at the Hollywood Casino in Kansas City, Kan.
The drugs were grown on farms and in warehouses in California and transported to the Kansas City area, prosecutors said. Money was taken back to California. On one occasion, Los Angeles police stopped Deteringer while he possessed $52,000.
A sentencing date has not been set.
