Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man whose body was found in an alley in Kansas City.

Officers received reports of shots fired about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday in the 4100 block of Brooklyn Avenue.

When they arrived, they found the man dead in an alley.

Chief Darryl Forte said on Twitter this was the second homicide in a 12-hour period. Police say they solved the first one already.

That homicide involved a man who was stabbed about 4 p.m. Monday at an apartment in the 9600 block of Lydia Avenue.

One man told police he had stabbed the victim in self-defense after being stabbed first.

Anyone with information about either case is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (474-8477).
