Kansas City police are investigating after a woman who had gone out Sunday night to socialize at several nightclubs woke up in a vacant house Monday morning and didn’t know how she got there.
The 33-year-old woman told police she visited the Quaff bar downtown, the Blue Line sports bar in the City Market and finally the Gusto Lounge in Westport. She ended up in Westport about midnight, she told police, but doesn’t remember anything after that, including how or with whom she left Westport.
Police said it appeared she went out alone.
The woman, who lives in the Brookside area, woke up in an abandoned house near 35th Street and Montgall Avenue. A man she did not know reportedly told her that she had blacked out, fallen and hit her head Sunday night, so he was trying to take care of her. He then said he had to leave to get something.
The woman didn’t know where her vehicle was or what happened to her, police said. She sought help from a nearby resident, who called police about 8:35 a.m. Monday.
Police interviewed the woman, who sought treatment at a hospital. Sex crimes detectives were investigating.
Officers found her car in Westport.
