Three charged in string of Independence street robberies

Jackson County authorities charged three persons Friday in a string of Independence street robberies during which cell phones, a handbag, cash, a shotgun and a Playstation video game were taken.

Jessica K. Coleman, 21, of Kingsville, Mo., faces one count of first-degree robbery and one of armed criminal action. Deondre M. Prendergast, 20, of Kansas City and Devonte M. Prendergast, 19, of Kansas City each face multiple first-degree robbery and armed criminal action charges.

Police arrested the Prendergasts in Kansas City Thursday evening following a standoff at a residence near 20th Street and Kensington Avenue.
