Zoo supporters on Thursday added $500 to a reward fund for information identifying a gunman who robbed a concession stand inside the zoo Sunday just before closing time.

The total reward now stands at $2,500, with the additional cash from the Friends of the Zoo organization.

The robber knocked on the side door of the Treetop Snacks stand near the rhinos and hippos exhibits and pretended to be an employee. He wore a zoo shirt and even served a customer a drink before pulling a gun on two employees and helping himself to an unknown amount of cash from the register.

Police did not release a detailed description of the robber, who fled on foot after the 4:50 p.m. holdup.

Anyone with information should call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (474-8477).
