A man found dead after a police standoff last week in Kansas City, Kan., was killed in an exchange of gunfire with officers, the Wyandotte County coroner has determined.
Police identified the man as 24-year-old Charles D. Broadway Jr. of Kansas City, Kan.
The incident occurred about 6:30 p.m. Friday in the 1700 block of North 73rd Terrace. Someone inside the apartment fired up officers answering a disturbance call. The officers returned fire. No officers were injured.
Police surrounded the area and evacuated nearby residents. Eventually, tactical officers entered the apartment and found Broadway dead.
On Monday, police said the incident remained under investigation.
