A Kansas City police officer was struck and dragged by a car Thursday night near 39th Street and Michigan Avenue.
The officer was blocking traffic for a separate incident when a vehicle hit him and dragged him a short distance, said Capt. Tye Grant, a police spokesman.
The vehicle did not stop immediately after hitting the officer, but it was eventually halted and the driver was detained near East 42nd Street and Wayne Avenue.
Charges are pending against the driver, Grant said.
