A week after 23-year-old Ashley Harlan was found dead, Olathe police put out word Tuesday that they want more help in the homicide investigation.
Harlan, who was pregnant, was supposed to learn the sex of her baby the day she was killed, friends said. The unborn child also died.
Harlan’s body was found in the afternoon Jan. 30 inside a family member’s home where she had been staying at the Westerfield Townhouses off East Westerfield Place.
Many tips came into police in the first several days, “but obviously we’re looking for more,” said Olathe police spokesman Sgt. Logan Bonney.
Olathe is also spreading its request for information to the Manhattan, Kan., area, where Harlan lived for a few years before she moved to Olathe in early January to be nearer her baby’s father, friends said.
“We’re just trying to reach out to see if we can develop information helpful to us,” Bonney said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Olathe police at 913-971-7500 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
