Prosecutors charged a 46-year-old Grain Valley man Friday with rape, assault and two counts of sodomy.
According to court records, James P. Cox went to a residence Saturday to drop off a child. During the visit, Cox became angry and argued with a woman there. After spending the night, he allegedly attacked the woman the next day. He jumped on her, choked her and forced her to have sex, according to court records.
Afterward, Cox retrieved a shotgun from the bedroom closet and made the victim pull the hammer back and pull the trigger. He then told her, “Now your fingerprints are on it,” authorities allege.
Cox allegedly used his cell phone to record a portion of the attack.
The victim later called 911. Officers noticed bruises on her chest, arms and neck.
