A shooting near Thompson and Booth avenues in Kansas City left one man with life-threatening injuries and led police to surround a house that they learned on Saturday was empty.
The shooting was reported shortly after 6:30 p.m. Friday. Police found the gunshot victim at the scene and he was taken to a hospital.
Police were told that another person remained in the area armed with a weapon and were led to to a nearby home where they believed a suspect was inside and refusing to exit.
Police later entered the residence and issued a brief release shortly before 4 a.m. Saturday that they found no one inside. That investigation is ongoing. The condition and identity of the man who had been shot was not available.
