Suspicious package prompts downtown street closings

Kansas City police diverted traffic from the area of 13th and Holmes streets for several hours Monday afternoon.

Kansas City police shut down streets downtown while they investigated a suspicious suitcase Monday afternoon.

The suitcase was found about 1:30 p.m. next to a bus stop sign along 13th Street between Holmes and Charlotte streets.

The event was declared over and the streets reopened after 5 p.m. Police said the case contained no threat.
