Daphne Plummer of Lee’s Summit West is one of five area players selected to represent Missouri in the annual MO-KAN All-Star Softball Series.
Plummer, a shortstop/pitcher who has signed with Missouri State, batted .490 last fall as she helped the Titans take third place in the Class 5 state tournament. Her 20 RBIs were second most on the team and she led the 25-8 Titans with nine doubles. On the mound, she had an 8-3 record with a 0.92 earned-run average.
Also selected for the team are Emily Clark and Cierra McGee of Lee’s Summit North, Callie Martin of Raymore-Peculiar, who will play for Missouri next fall, and Belton’s Madison Hunsaker, who like Plummer will attend Missouri State.
The rest of the Missouri squad includes Micah Allen and Kelsie Warren of Kearney, Tori Farr of Platte County, Bailey Fowler and Madi Hecker of Blue Springs South, Jennifer Harvey of Staley, Paige Hayden of Fort Osage, Olivia Kinsley of Park Hill South, and Destiny Ojigob of Liberty North.
Never miss a local story.
Kristi Williams, the coach of 2016 Class 5 state runner-up Blue Springs South, will serve as the Missouri team’s head coach. Lee’s Summit West head coach Eric Doane will be one of the assistants.
The MO-KAN All-Star Softball Series is set for June 5 at the Shawnee Mission Softball Complex in Shawnee, Kan. The best-of-three series against a team of Kansas all-stars will start at 5 p.m., with the second game scheduled for 6:30. A five-inning third game will follow if needed.
