Lee’s Summit and Lee’s Summit West set up a semifinal matchup with victories Saturday in the first round of the Class 5 District 13 baseball tournament at West.
Lee’s Summit, the tournament’s No. 2 seed, advanced by beating Ruskin 11-0 in six innings. Ben Lock, Dalen Blair and Dalton Hill combined to hold Ruskin to one hit and one walk while striking out 10. Hill also hit a two-run homer during the Tigers’ three-run sixth inning.
Lee’s Summit, 19-9, finished with 11 hits, including three from Quinton Carlberg and two each from Lock and Zavian Hill. Lock, Dalton Hill and Jason Kostelnick each drove in two runs. Kostelnick drove in both runs with a triple that sparked a four-run rally in the fifth.
No. 3 seed West reached the semifinals with a 4-1 victory over Belton. West, 14-13, broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the fourth inning on a single by Ben McClain and a two-RBI double by Sam Breshears. Trevor Kardell homered in the bottom of the third for the Titans.

West pitchers C.C. Crain and Alex Stanghor combined to hold Belton to four hits and five walks while striking out eight. The Pirates ended their season with a 12-17 record.
West and Lee’s Summit will meet 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the first of two semifinals on the Titans’ home field. No. 1 seed Rockhurst, 15-13 plays No. 4 Raymore-Peculiar, 10-19, at 4:30.
North makes final
Lee’s Summit North reached the final of the Class 5 District 14 tournament with a 10-7 semifinal victory Monday over host Grain Valley.
North, 17-12, was led at the plate and on the mound by Gunnar Gronberg, who went four for four and drove in three runs. The Broncos’ starter allowed seven runs and five walks while striking out seven.
North jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and added three more runs in the fourth, two of them on a single by Gronberg. That helped North withstand a four-run rally by Grain Valley in the fifth.
North played Blue Springs South, an 11-5 winner over Blue Springs in the other semifinal, Tuesday for the district title.
