Colbern Road Bridge closed
The Colbern Road Bridge at Missouri 291 and Interstate 470 is closing from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, by the Missouri Department of Transportation, from Rice Road to the I-470 off ramp.
The left turn lane onto eastbound Colbern Road also will close from the southbound I-470 off ramp. Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes. All work is weather permitting.
MoDOT asks motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway. Topping ceremony at medical center
The last beam went into place July 19 in an addition to Lee’s Summit Medical Center last week.
About 150 people joined Lee’s Summit Medical Center officials for a topping ceremony celebrating progress adding a third floor to the hospital.
JE Dunn Construction began the $21 million addition in June and completion is scheduled for summer of 2018. The new third floor will enhance care for orthopedic, spine and rehab patients and create space for the Lee’s Summit Medical Center’s Maternity Unit.
"This construction project will expand the services we offer to the area," said Matt Sogard, CEO of the medical center. "It not only represents an investment in the high-quality, comprehensive and compassionate care our physicians, nurses and staff offer to patients and their families, it’s also symbolic of our ongoing investment in the health and well-being of the community as its needs grow. We are proud to serve residents with some of the best healthcare in the region and are humbled by the community’s support of our efforts."
The beam was on display in main lobby for 1 week prior to ceremony. During that time, patients, visitors, and staff filled the beam with hundreds of signatures
