Shawnee Mission Medical Center gets top marks for patient safety

Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Merriam has received an “A” for patient safety from the Leapfrog Group, a health care advocacy organization. The score represents a hospital’s overall performance in keeping patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors. Scores are based on national performance measures.

The Leawood Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual meeting and hall of fame awards luncheon on Dec. 10 at the Overland Park Convention Center. The two-hour event, which begins at 11:15 a.m., will feature keynote speaker and nationally recognized jeans designer Matt Baldwin of Baldwin Denim. Tickets are $55 for members, $70 for non-members. Reservation deadline is Dec. 4.
