Optum, one of Johnson County’s largest employers, is expanding its operations with a health and wellness clinic in Overland Park.
The facility, which is the company’s first in the area, recently opened at Metcalf Plaza, 7100 College Blvd. The Optum Clinic accepts most major health insurance plans and Medicare patients.
The clinic, which is open year-round, provides onsite, same-day lab and X-ray work, along with wellness coaching, cosmetic treatments, pediatric care and school, camp and sports physicals.
In addition, Optum is offering a $19 annual membership that bundles a package of services to promote healthy living, including immunization screening, skin checks, a yearly flu shot, and free blood pressure and body mass index checks.
The 7,000-square-foot location has 17 patient care rooms, two private consultation rooms, three procedure rooms, three advance screening rooms and an onsite lab/X-ray room.
Lary Bocquin is the clinic’s medical director. Therese Turk is nurse practitioner and Marilyn Johnson is the clinic manager. The staff includes six medical assistants.
Optum established operations in Overland Park about eight years ago as Prescription Solutions. It now has more than 2,000 area employees, mostly working at the company’s customer service and support center at 115th Street and Metcalf Avenue. Optum is one of the nation’s largest pharmacy benefits managers.
