Lenexa medical office

Sunflower Medical Group has opened a medical office at 9300 Meadow View Drive in Lenexa, northwest of Prairie Star Parkway and Kansas 7. The Heartland Primary Care and Urgent Care center will have four doctors — three who specialize in pediatric medicine and one in family medicine. The urgent care clinic offers walk-in service with no appointment necessary.

Sunflower Medical has been providing health care services in the Kansas City area for more than 20 years.

Fraudulent medical claims

A McPherson County nurse who recently pleaded guilty to six counts of insurance fraud has been ordered to repay nearly $80,000 in restitution to Aflac. The Kansas Insurance Department said Jennifer Batson filed fraudulent claims with Aflac by using forged medical records and billing documents. Regulators said she allegedly filed claims for a variety of fictitious injuries and health conditions that she said happened to herself and her husband.
